To be eligible for admission into the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RNBSN) degree completion program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Completion of the application for admission.
2. Complete all University admission requirements.
3. A qualifying RN License: defined as an active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state or territory. This includes military, federal, and foreign-educated nurses who must meet state requirements for nursing licensure. The qualifying RN license must be valid at all times while enrolled, and specifically in any state in which the student completes any assignments for the program.
4. Educational Background:
Applicants must have completed their initial nursing education with a 2.25 CGPA or better from an institution that prepares for licensure and practice as an RN in the United States*. This education could be in the form of:
· An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
· A Diploma in Nursing
· Any other nursing program that meets state-approved educational requirements for RN licensure.
* Applicants submitting non-U.S. or non-English transcripts should refer to the International Transfer Credit section of the catalog for policies governing translation and evaluation of foreign credentials. West Coast University requires proof of English Proficiency. Applicants for whom English is not their primary language should refer to the University Admissions Requirements section of the catalog.
Documentation Requirements
1. Application for Admission: Complete the application process as outlined by the university.
2. Proof of Licensure: Submit a copy of the active and unencumbered qualifying RN license.
3. Educational Transcripts:
· Provide unofficial transcripts or a copy of the conferred nursing degree at the time of application.
NCLEX Pending
Applicants awaiting RN licensure issuance may be conditionally admitted if they meet all other admissions criteria. Proof of licensure must be received by the end of the first term of enrollment, prior to taking BSNR 400Cor the student will be dismissed from the program.
Program Transfer Credit Policy
To achieve the graduation requirement of 120 credits, all students must complete 30 credits of Upper-Level Nursing at WCU.
Official transcripts are required for a transfer credit evaluation to be completed and final credits to be awarded. In addition to official transcripts, copies of course descriptions, school catalogs, and course syllabi may be requested for transfer credit evaluation purposes. Transfer credit evaluations are final and not subject to appeal.
Applicants submitting non-U.S. or non-English transcripts should refer to the International Transfer Credit section of the catalog for policies governing translation and evaluation of foreign credentials.
All determinations must be made prior to the start of the term. An evaluation resulting in a non-approved institution will result in inadmissibility into the program and a cancellation of the enrollment agreement.
Applicants who have successfully completed a pre-licensure nursing program and who have a qualifying RN license, as defined in the admissions requirements, will be awarded up to 90 credit hours of block transfer credit. Prelicensure nursing programs are not required to be institutionally or programmatically accredited for coursework to be eligible for transfer credit when combined with a qualifying RN license.
